Simply use the tool to compress and hold the striker spring for you while you fiddle with those pesky $%@# spring retaining cups!

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

Step 1: Install the pusher onto the spring. I like install between the coils one above the bottom of the cup(s). Slide the pusher in and then down so that its positioned through the coils and below the cup as pictured above.

Step 2: Insert the portion of the pusher with the ratchet teeth into the corresponding body hole. The pusher is designed with teeth so that many different positions can be obtained as striker spring compressed lengths can vary depending on coil count and spring manufacturer.

Step 3: Compress pusher fully into body assembly. Compress as far as it will go until all coils below pusher are completely compressed. Observe top of spring to make sure retaining cup(s) are free from the striker spring. If cup(s) are not free compress spring more. If spring is compressed all the way then you will need to release and reinstall the pusher higher up on the spring. Repeat the compression process.

Step 4: If cups are are 2 pieces they probaly already fell off. If not remove them from the striker. If cup is one piece use fingers to peel it off of the striker using the provided slit in the cup as pictured above.

Step 5: Use caution as spring is compressed and pusher is under pressure. To remove pusher, striker and striker spring from tool press pusher inward towards the striker while holding firmly and remove slowly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Step 1: Install pusher onto striker spring leaving 1-2 coils above pusher. This will allow the spring to be captured by the cup(s) once they are reinstalled and the spring is released.

Step 2: Install striker into body and slide spring/pusher assembly down onto striker. Compress spring while guiding pusher ratchet teeth into corresponding body hole. Compress until all coils below pusher are fully compressed. Observe the top of the spring. Make sure depression in striker where cup(s) intall is free from the striker spring.

Step 3: Instll cup(s) onto striker.

Step 4: Slowly release pusher while guiding spring coils over pusher cup(s). Insure cup(s) is positioned inside spring coils. Once the cup(s) are captured by the striker spring full release and remove pusher from tool body.

THAT'S IT!!!! Easy peasy!
